MPP enforcement officers and police personnel inspect the unauthorised earthwork site.
KUCHING (Oct 15): The Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) has taken firm action by sealing off an unauthorised earthwork site along Jalan Segubang, following continued non-compliance by the landowner.
MPP chairman Tan Kai said the council erected a barrier to block entry after repeated reminders to obtain a valid road permit were ignored.
“The activity not only caused inconvenience to road users but also damaged roads under council maintenance.
“Despite several engagements and clear instructions, the landowner fail to comply,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Tan reminded all developers and landowners within the Padawan area that a road permit is mandatory for any work involving the use of council roads.
“All parties must be responsible when using public roads and adhere to council regulations.
“Road safety is a shared responsibility, and the council will continue to collaborate with the relevant authorities to enforce compliance and safeguard public safety,” he stressed.
As of now, access to the site at Jalan Segubang has been officially restricted.
