KUCHING (Aug 5): Borneo Fittest 2026 concluded with a strong showcase of functional fitness competition at the Ang Cheng Ho Multipurpose Hall here last week, with top teams emerging across three categories after two days of intense workouts.
The sixth edition of the tournament, organised by the Sarawak Fitness Association (SFA), attracted athletes, coaches, and fitness enthusiasts from across the region, further cementing Sarawak’s position as an emerging hub for competitive functional fitness.
According to the organisers, participants competed in the Play, Push, and Prime categories, with events designed to test strength, endurance, and teamwork through a series of challenging workouts.
“Throughout the competition, athletes were required to complete a series of rigorous workouts that pushed both individual and team performance to the limit,” the organiser said in a statement.
Team Worm We Survive? emerged champions in the Play category, followed by Struggle Bus in second place and Pablo Escoburpees in third.
In the Push category, Dnf took the top spot, with Hybrid securing second place, and PR OR ER finishing third.
Triple Horsepower claimed the Prime category title, while Steph Is Single finished second and Jiejie Bring Fly completed the podium.
The tournament was officially opened by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Prof Dr Sim Kui Hian, who was represented by Padawan Municipal Council chairman Cr Tan Kai.
Dr Sim congratulated the organisers and participants, saying the competition highlighted how sporting events could encourage healthier lifestyles while strengthening community participation and contributing to Sarawak’s growing sports tourism sector.
The SFA also expressed appreciation to the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, government agencies, sponsors, volunteers, and spectators for their support in making the tournament a success.
Held from Aug 1 to 2, Borneo Fittest 2026 highlighted the growing standard of functional fitness competition in Sarawak and is expected to further drive the sport’s development ahead of the next edition in 2027.
